Rangers Daily Prospect Update: Sept. 24, 2006

Eight Rangers prospects competed in regular-season games in the OHL, QMJHL and Europe on Sunday. Here is a summary of their performances:

Anisimov's Scoring to Date: 4 games, 0 goals, 1 assist, 2 PIM
Sept. 24: Yaroslavl 3, Togliatti 2 (at Yaroslavl)

Anisimov, the Rangers' second-round draft selection last June, picked up his first point of the season - an assist on the game-winning goal by former NHL player Brett Hauer on a power play at 4:04 of the third period. He was also called for a minor penalty during the third period.

Marek's Scoring to Date: 8 games, 7 goals, 2 assists, 12 PIM
Sept. 24: Omsk 3, Magnitogorsk 1 (at Omsk)

Marek picked up an assist on a goal by Alexei Litvinenko at 0:42 of the second period. Litvinenko's goal tied the game at 1-1 after Alexander Popov had put Omsk up 1-0 in the first period. Omsk's Sergei Pajor scored the eventual game-winner late in the second period, and Konstantin Gorovikov added an insurance goal while the teams skated 4-on-4 early in the third.

Dornic's Scoring to Date: 6 games, 1 goal, 1 assist, 6 PIM
Sept. 24: Skalica 4, Zilina 3 (at Skalica)

Dornic had the second assist on the game's first goal, scored by Tomas Hrncirik at 4:07 of the opening period. Skalica fell behind 2-1 after two periods but stormed back with three goals in the third. Two of the goals came from former University of Maine star Robert Liscak. Dornic was also called for a penalty in the first period.

Cliche Marc-Andre Cliche
Position: Right Wing
Team: Lewiston MAINEiacs
League: QMJHL
Cliche's Scoring to Date: 2 games, 0 goals, 3 assists, 0 PIM
Sept. 24: Moncton 7, Lewiston 6 (at Moncton)

Cliche, the Lewiston captain, assisted on the MAINEiacs' fifth goal, scored just one minute into the third period. That goal cut Moncton's lead to 6-5 in a game the Wildcats had earlier led by four goals. Moncton's Andrew MacDonald picked up the eventual game-winner at 9:24 of the third.

Hillier's Scoring to Date: 5 games, 0 goals, 1 assist, 4 PIM
Sept. 24: Quebec 7, Halifax 6 (at Quebec)

Hiller picked up his first point of the 2006-07 season with the second assist on Justin Saulnier's goal at 8:48 of the opening period, cutting Quebec's lead to 3-2. He also took a minor penalty midway through that period.

Sept. 24: Sparta Praha 4, Zlin 1 (at Zlin)

Psurny did not score a point or take any penalties as Zlin fell at home.

KoverkoTrevor Koverko
Position: Defense
Team: Oshawa Generals
League: OHL
Koverko's Scoring to Date: 2 games, 0 goals, 0 assists, 9 PIM
Sept. 24: Kingston 6, Oshawa 3 (at Kingston)

Koverko did not score but picked up his first nine penalty minutes of the season, including a five-minute slashing major at 10:31 of the first period. Kingston scored three straight times in a 12-minute span of the second to break open what had been a close game.

Kveton David Kveton
Position: Right Wing
Team: Gatineau Olympiques
League: QMJHL
Kveton's Scoring to Date: 2 games, 0 goals, 2 assists, 0 PIM
Sept. 24: Gatineau 3, Chicoutimi 2 (SO) (at Gatineau)

Kveton, the Rangers' 2006 fourth-round draft choice, had one shot on goal but did not record any points or take any penalties in his team's overtime shootout victory at home.
