by Staff Writer / New York Rangers
Three Rangers prospects competed in regular-season games in Europe on Tuesday. Here is a summary of their performances:

MarekJan Marek
Position: Forward
Team: Magnitogorsk Metallurg
League: Russian Superleague
Marek's Scoring to Date: 3 games, 4 goals, 1 assist
Sept. 12: Moscow Dynamo 3, Magnitogorsk 2 (at Moscow)

Marek, a 26-year-old drafted by the Rangers 243rd overall in 2003, had another outstanding performance for Magnitogorsk, scoring twice in a tough loss to Moscow Dynamo. It was Marek's second two-goal game in three efforts. Both of his goals were scored on the power play. His first goal, at 13:47 of the opening period, put Magnitogorsk up 1-0, and his second tally, at 14:08 of the third pulled his team into a 2-2 tie after Dynamo had gone ahead on Denis Kulyash's goal at 8:38 of the third. Former Kings draft pick Evgeny Fedorov notched the winner for the home team on a two-man advantage at 17:42.

Magnitogorsk head coach Dave King, who previously coached in the NHL, told a Russian newspaper that he was extremely impressed with the Czech import's performance.

"It tells you something about the quality of a player when he was one of the leading scorers in Czech Elite League, which is high quality league," King said. "Marek has the spirit of a winner. He came here with flu and did not feel great before our opener but he is real warrior. He left his flu on the bench and played terrific."
