The Charlotte Checkers, the Rangers' East Coast Hockey League affiliate, fell to the South Carolina Stingrays 4-3 on Thursday night at home. South Carolina jumped out to a 4-0 lead early in the second period, but the Checkers fought all the way back to within one goal. The comeback was sparked by two goals and one assist from Rangers prospect Bruce Graham, the game's No. 3 star, and outstanding netminding by fellow Rangers prospect Chris Holt, the No. 2 star. Lee Falardeau got the Charlotte comeback going with a goal at 8:26 of the second period. Graham assisted on the goal, which was Falardeau's fifth of the season. Graham then followed up with a goal of his own just 52 seconds later to cut the lead to 4-2, and he tallied his second goal of the game - his 19th of the season -- on a power-play at 9:53 of the third period. Graham's two goals moved him into a tie with two other players for the ECHL lead. Holt gave Charlotte a spark in net after relieving starter Alex Westlund in the wake of the fourth South Carolina goal. Holt stopped all 12 shots he faced over the game's final 32 minutes to earn No. 2 star honors. The Checkers are now 15-12-1 and in fifth place in the American Conference's South Division.
