The New York Rangers released the 2005 pre-season schedule, featuring three games at Madison Square Garden and a total of six games in 21 days. Tickets for all pre-season games at The Garden will go on sale Wednesday, August 10 at noon.
The Rangers exhibition schedule consists of three home-and-home series versus old-time rivals the New York Islanders, New Jersey Devils and Boston Bruins. The team will open the pre-season on Long Island on Tuesday, September 20 facing off against the Islanders at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. New York's pre-season home opener kicks off at Madison Square Garden on Sunday, September 25 against the Bruins. The Rangers will then travel to New Jersey to face the Devils at Continental Airlines Arena on Tuesday, September 27, before meeting the Islanders at Madison Square Garden on Thursday, September 29. In the final weekend of the exhibition calendar, the club will travel to Boston on Saturday, October 1 to challenge the Bruins at the TD Banknorth Garden, before wrapping up the pre-season at The Garden on Sunday, October 2 when the team hosts New Jersey.
The 2005 New York Rangers training camp begins with players reporting to New York by midnight, Sunday, September 11. All players will go through physical testing at the Madison Square Garden Training Facility on Monday, September 12 with the first on-ice workouts slated for Tuesday, September 13.
