Rangers Among North American Leaders in NHL All-Star Voting

New York Rangers’ Theoren Fleury, Brian Leetch, Mark Messier and Mike Richter are currently among the North American leaders in this season’s NHL All-Star Fan Balloting for the 51st NHL® All-Star Game on February 4, 2001 in Denver.
FLEURY, currently second in the NHL in scoring with 56 points (24 goals, 32 assists) has received the second most votes among the North American wingers with 114,955 votes, trailing only Paul Kariya (121,839) as the top vote-getter for his position. LEETCH ranks fourth on the defensemen voting list with 73,526. The League-leader in points among defensemen with 48 points (11 goals, 37 assists) trails Ray Bourque (160,977), Chris Pronger (135,665) and Rob Blake (78,227). MESSIER, selected to the NHL All-Star Game 16 times in his career, is currently fourth among centers with 32,772 votes, behind Joe Sakic (91,043), Mike Modano (54,540) and Steve Yzerman (49,521). RICHTER, the Rangers’ All-Time Games Played leader in goal, is sixth in the All-Star voting for North American goaltenders with 19,390.
