Pavel Bure to Undergo Arthroscopic Knee Surgery

by Staff Writer / New York Rangers

The New York Rangers announced today that right wing Pavel Bure will undergo arthroscopic surgery tomorrow to repair a posterior tear of the medial meniscus. The procedure will be performed by team physician Dr. Andrew Feldman at St. Vincent’s Hospital.

Bure, 31, sustained the injury yesterday, in a game vs. New Jersey at Madison Square Garden. An MRI today revealed the nature of the injury, but showed no damage to either the anterior cruciate ligament or the medial collateral ligament.

"Probably in the second period I started to feel it a little, and then into the third," Bure said after Tuesday's game. "I can’t really explain it, it’s just sore. My whole knee is pretty much swollen a little bit."

Bure played 5:51 in the third period, recording two of his three shots in the game and assisted on New York’s only goal. He did not see the ice in the overtime session.
