MSG Network Announces "Play It Up" Schedule for 1999-2000

MSG Network's Saturday morning program "Play It Up!" will begin its third season on MSG on October 9 at 10:00 AM, and will feature tips from New York Rangers and Knicks players in each episode this fall. The program is part of the "MSG for Kids" programming block that airs Saturday mornings from 9:00 - 10:30 AM.

Play it Up!, produced exclusively for MSG Network by Phoenix Communications, is a 30-minute show that focuses behind-the-scenes of Madison Square Garden and its various sports properties. The program looks at each of the teams playing in the Garden, offering young fans an inside look at the Knicks, Rangers and Liberty in a way that no television show has done before. Each episode of Play it Up! includes instructional tips, question and answer sessions with players, workout tips, features on life as a professional athlete, contests, and glimpses at rarely seen locations throughout the Garden complex,

In October, the following Rangers players will be featured:
October 9Theo Fluery
October 16Petr Nedved
October 23Manny Malhotra
October 30Mike Richter and Kirk McLean

Programs in November will feature representatives from the Knicks working on basketball drills with the hosts.

Play it Up!, nominated for a 1998 New York Emmy Award in the category of "Outstanding Programming for Young People," uses quick-paced action and eye-catching graphics to attract kids to the teams in a new, personal approach. The program is hosted by Howie Ravikoff and Lisa Mollick. Ravikoff has appeared on "Saturday Night Live" and "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" and has hosted episodes of the show "No, Really" on the Discovery Channel. Mollick has played the role of 'Gail' in Horizon Pictures "Full Court Press" and has appeared in daytime soap opera's "All My Children" and "As The World Turns".

Soccer Zone and PETV make up the remainder of the "MSG For Kids" programming lineup that is geared towards kids ages six to 14.
