by Staff Writer / New York Rangers

New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that Hartford Wolf Pack (AHL) goaltender Al Montoya has been reassigned to the Rangers' East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers, on a conditioning assignment.

Montoya, 20, has been out of the Wolf Pack lineup since suffering a broken left ring finger in practice on November 8. Prior to his injury, Montoya posted a 5-1-0 record in six games with Hartford, along with a 2.50 goals against average and a .929 save percentage.

The Rangers face off against the Nashville Predators tonight in the second of back-to-back road games. Game time is 8 p.m. Marcel Hossa and Ville Nieminen are expected to return to the lineup, replacing Colton Orr and Ryan Hollweg, while Henrik Lundqvist will get the start in goal.
