Mike Richter Selected to Represent Rangers at the 2000 NHL All-Star Game
/ New York Rangers
Rangers goaltender Mike Richter was selected to the North American roster today by the National Hockey League to represent the Rangers at the 2000 NHL All-Star Game. The 50th NHL All-Star Game will be held on February 6th in Toronto at Air Canada Centre. Richter appeared in the 1991-92 contest, while capturing MVP honors in the 1993-94 match, which was held at Madison Square Garden. The 12-year NHL veteran will join Toronto's Curtis Joseph and New Jersey's Martin Brodeur as North America's three netminders. The game will be televised at 2:30PM on ABC on February 6.
The international All-Star Game format, introduced in 1998, underscores the NHL's international makeup. The top NHL players representing Canada and United States will comprise the North America All-Star Team, which will face the top NHL players from the rest of the world.
