Messier to Miss Blueshirt Afternoon Tilt in Philly

by Staff Writer / New York Rangers

Rangers captain Mark Messier did not make the trip to Philadelphia with the Blueshirts today due to an elbow contusion. He had the elbow drained on Thursday and is listed as day-to-day.

The 43-year old Edmonton, Alberta native has tallied 17 goals and 25 assists for 42 points, along with 42 penalty minutes in 75 matches this season.

Messier has missed the last two games after serving a two-game suspension issued by the NHL for a spearing incident he was involved in on March 21 at Pittsburgh.
