Kasparaitis undergoes MRI on knee

Rangers defenseman Darius Kasparaitis underwent an MRI on Tuesday to determine the extent of the injury he suffered in the warm-up prior to the game on January 14 at Detroit. The result of the test confirmed that he suffered a grade one sprain of the medial collateral ligament in his left knee and will remain sidelined on a day-to-day basis.

Kasparaitis, 33, has appeared in 44 games with the Rangers this season, registering five assists along with 52 penalty minutes. He currently leads the team in hits (121) and blocked shots (75) and is tied for the team lead in penalty minutes (52).
