On Thursday, October 25, Rangers alumni Adam Graves and Brian Mullen helped celebrate the return of New York Rangers Youth Street Hockey presented by Live Positively, Coca-Cola. This marks the third year that the Rangers and Coca-Cola have provided free indoor youth hockey clinics and nutrition seminars for tri-state area youth from partner organizations NYC Department of Parks & Recreation, The Boys and Girls Club and YMCA.

Graves, Mullen, and the Rangers Hockey Development team kicked off the program with the inaugural clinic at NYC Parks Chelsea Recreation Center to kick off the 2012-13 program. With the help of Coca-Cola this program has grown from 650 to over 2,500 participants since the program’s inception in 2010.
“I grew up 20 blocks from here doing the same type of thing, playing hockey in the parks and streets,” said Mullen. “The opportunity to have a program like this is great for all of the city’s youth. It’s been something that has been a privilege for me to be a part of each year.”
Over the course of the season participating youth are offered free hockey instruction and tips on the importance of exercising and eating a balanced diet. The weekly scheduled clinics that begin in December and run through the end of January, will educate and inspire hundreds of kids throughout the New York City region and engage them in a healthy, active lifestyle this winter. The program culminates in early spring with a tournament at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum involving all the groups.
Registration for the free clinics is now open, and will run until November 30. For more information on other New York Rangers Fan Development and Youth Hockey programs or to register for the street hockey program, please visit www.NYRangers.com
