Game Notes: Rangers at Montreal Canadiens

The Rangers face-off against the Montreal Canadiens today at the Bell Centre (7:30 p.m.), in a matchup of Original Six teams. The Blueshirts currently rank fourth in the Atlantic Division standings with a record of 36-26-8, and seventh in the Eastern Conference with 80 points. The Rangers enter tonight's contest having defeated the Flyers, 4-1, Sunday at Madison Square Garden, and have won five of their last seven games. New York has posted a 29-16-7 record vs. Original Six opponents since the 2005-06 season, including a 7-5-2 mark vs. Montreal during the stretch. Following today's contest, the Rangers will return home to face-off against the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday, March 21 at Madison Square Garden (7:00 p.m.), in the first game of their 15th and final back-to-back set of the 2008-09 regular season. The Canadiens, 36-25-8, currently rank sixth in the Eastern Conference standings with 80 points, and have lost four of their last six games (2-3-1).
