CCHA Super Six Action Kicks-Off on Thursday at 'The Joe'

The CCHA Super Six has become more than the post-season championship for the league's teams, it has become a weekend celebration of college hockey. Six CCHA teams and their fans will converge on Detroit and Joe Louis Arena on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, March 17-19. In Thursday action, Darin Olver (photo - right) and #3 Northern Michigan face #6 Alaska-Fairbanks at 4:35 PM ET, before Chris Holt and #4 Nebraska-Omaha face Corey Potter and #5 Michigan State at 8:05 PM ET.

#6 Alaska-Fairbanks vs. #3 Northern Michigan (Olver)
. This marks Northern Michigan's fourth straight trip to the CCHA's Super 6
. NMU has played in the Semifinal game for three consecutive years, but has failed to reach the Championship game in all three years
. With their Game 3 victory over Western Michgian, the Wildcats of Northern Michigan improved to 3-1 in deciding Game Threes
. NMU went 2-1-1 against Alaska-Fairbanks during the 2004-'05 regular season
. On Feb. 5th, UAF handed the Wildcats their first home loss of the season
. This is the second time these two teams have met in the post-season, with NMU sweeping UAF in last year's First Round series
. Olver carried his hot-streak into and through NMU's First Round series against Western Michigan when he recorded three assists in the three-game set, two coming in NMU's Game Three 4-1 victory

#5 Michigan State (Potter) vs. #4 Nebraska-Omaha (Holt)
. Five years ago today, March 17, 2000, in the CCHA semi-finals, marks the only win Nebraska-Omaha has ever had at "The Joe" when it upset top-seeded Michigan, 7-4 in its inaugural season in the CCHA
. Michigan State and Nebraska-Omaha have faced each other one time in the playoffs, a 6-0 win for Michigan State in the CCHA Championship in 2000
. The two teams split their season series this year (1-1-0), with Chris Holt of UNO compiling a 3.50 goals against average and a .905 save percentage in the two meetings
. The Mavs of UNO are averaging 3.50 goals per game, ranking them sixth in the nation in scoring
. Michigan State has won its last five consecutive games, having gone 4-0 thus far in the month of March
. In his career vs Michigan State, Holt is 1-3-0 with a GAA of 3.75 and a Save % of .898
. Potter missed both of State's games against Nebraska this year with an injury
. In MSU's first round series, Potter recorded an assist on the game-winning goal in Game Two to help give the Spartans the first round sweep of Miami-Ohio
. Holt won both games between the pipes last weekend in sweeping Lake Superior, while compiling a 3.00 GAA and a .878 save %
