New York Rangers forward Anson Carter, along with teammate Dan LaCouture, has joined forces with New York Cares to help New Yorkers keep warm during the cold winter months by hosting a coat drive on Monday, December 8.
The event, which will take place at The 40/40 Club in Manhattan from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, is being held in conjunction with New York Cares 15th Annual New York Cares Coat Drive, which runs the entire month of December throughout the metropolitan area.
Fans are encouraged to bring gently-used adult and children's coats to The 40/40 Club, where they will then be distributed to men, women, and children at New York City homeless shelters, community organizations, churches, and agencies serving seniors - 280 agencies in all. Over half a million coats have been collected and distributed in the past 14 years.
For those unable to make it to the event on Monday afternoon, New York Cares will have collection bins positioned in the Madison Square Box Office Lobby during the Rangers - Montreal Canadiens game on Wednesday, December 10. Game time is 7:00 PM. WHO:

Established in 1987, New York Cares has been New York City's premier volunteering organization. With thousands of eager volunteers, New York Cares responds to the city's most acute needs by reaching out to social service agencies, schools, homeless shelters and other deserving agencies. To compliment their daily projects, New York Cares also organizes four major initiatives a year: New York Cares Spring Clean Up Day, New York Cares Day, the New York Cares Secret Santa Program and the New York Cares Coat Drive.
