MSG Networks has named Brian Mullen
color analyst for New York Rangers radio broadcasts, where he will work alongside play-by-play announcer Kenny Albert. Mullen, a former New York Ranger, will also handle select intermission interview duties during Rangers telecasts on MSG Network. The announcement was made by Mike McCarthy, executive vice president, MSG Networks.
"Brian brings a unique combination to the radio booth," said McCarthy. "His wealth of NHL experience, coupled with his New York roots will enable him to present a unique perspective to fans.”
Mullen, who replaces the retiring Sal Messina in the booth, played 11 seasons in the NHL with the Winnipeg Jets (1982-83 to 1986-87), New York Rangers (1987-88 to 1990-91), San Jose Sharks (1991-92) and New York Islanders (1992-93). He joins MSG Networks from the NHL, where he has worked for the last eight years, most recently as director, off-ice programs.
Mullen, who grew-up in New York City’s “Hell’s Kitchen” and was once a Rangers’ stick-boy, resides in Basking Ridge, NJ with his wife Linda and their three children.
