Blackburn to Hartford (AHL) on Conditioning Assignment

by Staff Writer / New York Rangers

Rangers rookie goaltender Dan Blackburn was loaned to the Hartford Wolf Pack (AHL) today as part of a 10-day conditioning assignment. The 18-year old will have the opportunity to play four games with the Wolf Pack before the NHL's Olympic break begins on February 14. Hartford visits the St. John's Maple Leafs on Tuesday and Wednesday, the Rochester Americans on Friday and the Portland Pirates on Sunday, February 10.

"We thought he should simply get some extra work in before the Olympics," said Rangers President and Genaral Manager Glen Sather. "He'll benefit from his time down there."

In 17 games with the Rangers this season, Blackburn has posted a record of 6-8-0 with a .904 save percentage. The Montreal, Quebec native recently participated in the Topps/NHL YoungStars Game as part of NHL All-Star weekend in Los Angeles.

Goaltender Johan Holmqvist has been recalled from Hartford (AHL).
