The Rangers are inviting fans to participate in a hockey playoff tradition and “Grow One for the Team" with the -2012 Rangers Beard-A-Thon.
On Monday, April 9, starting at 11 a.m. at Madison Square Garden, Blueshirt fans are invited to help kickoff the Rangers Beard-A-Thon, presented by Philips Norelco, by joining Rangers legend Rod Gilbert to get a final shave before starting to grow their playoff beards.
Four barber chairs will be set up outside Madison Square Garden with stylists from Cutler Salon, providing free shaves for fans with state-of-the-art Philips Norelco SensoTouch electric shavers
Participating fans will help raise money for the Garden of Dreams Foundation, joining a lineup of Rangers players and alumni already participating.
The first 50 fans to get their final shave with a Philips Norelco SensoTouch electric shaver and create a page on the Rangers Beard-a-Thon web site
will be entered to win playoff tickets.
The Rangers Beard-a-Thon, presented by Philips Consumer Lifestyle, for its Philips Norelco brand electric shavers, is an opportunity for fans to grow their own playoff beard and raise money for a great cause with all net proceeds benefiting the Garden of Dreams Foundation, which makes dreams come true for kids facing obstacles.
Participants in the Rangers Beard-a-Thon, presented by Philips Norelco, commit to maintain their beard as long as the Rangers remain in the playoffs and can invite family, friends, and business associates to pledge their playoff beards.
Fans who are unwilling, or unable, to grow playoffs beards, can also pledge their friends or favorite Rangers player or alumni. As an added incentive, the Rangers fan that raises the most money will win exclusive Rangers prizes. All net proceeds for the Rangers Beard-a-Thon presented by Phillips Norelco are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.
