Thoughts From Practice: Feb. 14

by Staff Writer / Nashville Predators
A couple of quick notes from today's Preds practice:

- Forwards Marcel Goc and Marek Svatos both participated in the full session. Both appeared to be skating and shooting well. With yesterday's re-assignment of Matt Halischuk (who picked up a pair of assists in his return to Milwaukee on Sunday night), it's a safe bet that at least one of Goc or Svatos will be back in the lineup on Tuesday night.

- Line combinations in practice:
Fisher centering Erat and Kostitsyn
Goc centering Ward and Wilson
Legwand centering Horqvist and Sullivan
Spaling with Dumont, Smithson, Svatos

- On the power-play:
Fisher, Erat, and Kostitsyn were up front with Suter and Weber on the points for one unit.
Legwand and Wilson rotated in the middle with wings Dumont and Hornqvist, backed up by Franson and Sullivan on the points for the other unit.
Spaling and Smithson & Goc and Ward were the primary PK duos (Erat, Fisher, Kostitsyn, and Legwand have all done significant PK work this season, but were focusing on PP duties today).

The Legwand, Dumont, Hornqvist PP unit was having impressive success in drills today.

- The practice ended with a shootout drill. Goaltenders carried the day, making a couple full extension saves. Among the shooters, Shane O'Brien was the big winner today showing off a few different moves.

- Mike Fisher was one of the last players off the ice today, staying out almost 30 minutes after practice officially wrapped up. Patric Hornqvist (as per norm) was also one of the last forwards off the ice today.
