Nashville Predators defenseman Shea Weber
was named to the 2009 NHL Western Conference All-Star Team on Wednesday, and will become the fifth Predator to represent the club in the league’s mid-season classic when he takes the ice in Montreal on Jan. 24. This is Weber’s first All-Star Game appearance, though he did play in the in the 2007 NHL YoungStars Game in Dallas.
The 6-4, 230-pound blueliner has ranked among the defensive league leaders in goals (12) and points (28) all season, in addition to being second on the Predators in both categories. He leads the Predators in average time on ice (23:46), plus/minus rating (+9) and shots on goal (121) – the second-highest total among NHL d-men. The Sicamous, B.C., native is also second on the club in power-play goals (4) and tied for second in assists (16).
Nashville’s third choice, 49th overall, in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft held at the Sommet Center, Weber posted a pair of multi-goal games in the season’s first half, and notched a career-high four points (1g-3a) against Columbus on Oct. 18. Click here
