Newschannel 5 sportscaster Eric Yutzy won this year's Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Man of the Year competition, raising over $50,000 for the LLS. Yutzy ran in honor Chase Donnell a Predators fan who passed away last spring. For raising more than $50,000, a research grant will be named in Chase's memory.
The Man & Woman of the Year campaign is a fundraising competition among individuals in the community who, through their participation, vie for the honor of being the Man or Woman of the Year. The candidates who raise the most funds during the 10-week campaign will be awarded the title of Man & Woman of the Year. Candidates run in honor of the Boy & Girl of the Year, who are local blood cancer patient survivors.
The Man & Woman of the Year campaign begins with a local kickoff event in the spring. At the kickoff, candiates receive information on how to run a successful campaign, learn more about our mission, meet other candidates and meet the local Boy & Girl of the Year. Community sponsors will be highlighted and success stories from previous participants will be shared.
After 10 weeks of fundraising, candidates and their guests will join sponsors and other prominent community members at our Grand Finale celebration for the announcement of the Man & Woman of the Year. Celebrate the outstanding achievements of all candidates while participating in the excitement of live and silent auctions and enjoying fabulous food, cocktails and music.
All winners are recognized in a national advertisement in USA Today, which features photos of the top two fundraisers: our national Man & Woman of the Year.
