– The Western Hockey League announced today that defenceman Jonathon Blum
, of the Vancouver Giants, has been named the HUSKY WHL Player of the Month for September/October.
The 19 year old defenceman from Rancho Santa Margarita, California, recorded 14 points through September/October, netting four goals (three on the power play) and 10 assists all while maintaining a remarkable plus minus rating of +20. Blum went on a seven game point streak to open the season and recorded a point in nine of 10 games played through September/October; he also leads all WHL defenceman in the points per game category averaging 1.36 Pt/G.
Blum’s consistency helped the Vancouver Giants post an 11-0-0-3 record through September/October and currently sit first place in the WHL B.C. Division and Western Conference. His efforts also earned him a Three Star selection in four of the Giants 10 games played, with two being 1st Stars.
Blum was selected in the first round – 23rd overall of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft by the Nashville Predators.
