The Nashville Predators took Vancouver Giants defenseman Jonathon Blum
with their first pick of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. The 6'0", 160-pound native of Long Beach, Calif. is classified by Central Scouting as "a mobile, heads up defenseman." Blum, a teammate of Predators defensive prospect Cody Franson on the 2007 Memorial Cup-winning Giants, was ranked by the Central Scouting Agency as the 17th best available North American skater in this year's draft. He posted 51 points (8g-43a) and 48 penalty minutes in 72 games played with Vancouver in 2006-07.
