Nashville Tenn. (August 11, 2015) – New this season, the Nashville Predators are rolling out “Golden Saturdays,” at all 14 of their Saturday home games during the 2015-16 campaign. The first of these new “Golden Saturdays,” will be on Oct. 10 when the Edmonton Oilers visit Music City, Nashville’s second game of the season. In addition to special promotions, events, giveaways and in-arena campaigns centered on the “Golden Saturday” theme, the team will wear a brand-new GOLD helmet on Saturday nights.
“The 2015-16 Nashville Predators hockey season is shaping up to be one of the best and most exciting in recent history, both on and off the ice,” Bridgestone Arena and Nashville Predators President and COO Sean Henry said. “‘Golden Saturdays’ and the new GOLD helmets are both things we’ve been working on for a while and will bring something unique and special to an already incredible experience – a Saturday night in Smashville.”
Fans will know it’s a “Golden Saturday” as soon as they are in the vicinity of Bridgestone Arena on a Saturday night. The building’s exterior lights will all be turned to GOLD and the popular GOLD carpet will return for fans to walk on as they enter into Bridgestone Arena prior to the night’s contest. Staff, members of the Nashville Predators Energy Team and broadcast personalities will all sport their “Golden Saturday” best – which includes unique pins and ties for staff and broadcasters, GOLD Spirit Team uniforms and limited edition GOLD cups available at all Bridgestone Arena concession stands.
Leading up to the game, fans will have opportunities to enter to win GOLD prizes by following along with the Preds on Twitter (@PredsNHL) and Facebook (Nashville Predators Hockey Team). Upon entering the Arena, fans wearing Predators GOLD will receive a premium GOLD giveaway item at the door; including a special Halloween Terry Crisp mask and GOLD foam helmets presented by LIDS.
The Predators’ in-game presentation on Saturdays will be seen through GOLD lenses. In addition to game presentation fan favorites, fans can contend for the title of “Golden Fan of the Game” by wearing the most GOLD that night, say the Golden Oath with the rest of the 17,113 Smashville faithful, participate in unique GOLD Saturday intermission games and vie, along with the rest of their section, for recognition as the “Golden Section of the Night.” Throughout the game, distinctive “Golden Moments,” looks through Nashville Predators history, will be shown on the Megatron.
The biggest of all “Golden Saturday” special events will be seen as the Nashville Predators skate onto the ice for warm-ups. The players will wear GOLD helmets, designed especially with these Saturday night games in mind, all 14 Saturday night home games of the season and for a 15th appearance on Thursday, April 7, the last home game of the 2015-16 regular season and Nashville Predators Fan Appreciation Night.
A sneak peak of the helmets was seen back in early August when a single Predators rookie sported the helmet during 2015 Nashville Predators Development Camp as recognition of hard work and leadership during the events of the prior day.
Bridgestone Arena is already known as one of the hardest places to play as the visiting squad, especially on the infamous Saturday nights in Smashville.
“You’re not going to beat Nashville in Nashville on Saturday night,” St. Louis Blues Head Coach Ken Hitchcock said during the 2011-12 season. “This is like the Coliseum in Rome, coming into this place on a Saturday night.”
The “Golden Saturday” experience will serve to only strengthen Bridgestone Arena’s reputation as not only one of the toughest places to play for the away team, but also one of the best group of fans supporting the home team. This experience, coupled with the exciting play on the ice sure to come in 2015-16, makes a Saturday night in Smashville a “can’t miss.”
