Nashville, Tenn. – Danny Gunter of Antioch, Tenn., who purchased the winning ticket at the Preds game on Dec. 30 against the Detroit Red Wings, is the winner of the Predators Foundation inaugural Golden Giveaway 50/50 Charity Raffle. Gunter, who has lived in the Nashville area since 2010, will receive $15,000 in winnings, 50 percent of the net proceeds the drawing accumulated; the remaining amount will benefit the Nashville Predators Foundation.

In a drawing conducted in the Nashville Predators Foundation offices during the Preds game on Monday, Jan. 20 against the Dallas Stars, Preds goaltender Pekka Rinne drew the winning ticket (No. A96924) for the Nashville Predators Foundation Golden Giveaway 50/50 Charity Raffle.

After initially deleting an email sent out by the Predators Foundation to fans that had purchased single game tickets for the Dec. 30th contest, Gunter went back for a second look.

“I had forgotten about the ticket,” Gunter said. “My wife deleted the email and I had to go to that folder and find it to check the number. I purchased four tickets that night and when I pulled them out I realized that I had the winning number.”

Gunter, who purchased his first Preds shirt and hat in 1998 while in Music City for a visit, said during his visit to the Nashville Predators Foundation offices that his only plan so far on how he would spend his winnings was to take his wife somewhere nice for Valentine’s Day. He will be presented with his winnings at a check presentation during the Preds game on Saturday, Feb. 8 against the Anaheim Ducks.

“It’s exciting to congratulate Danny on winning the inaugural Smashville’s Golden Giveaway 50/50 Charity raffle,” Sean Henry, President of the Nashville Predators Foundation said. “Thank you to the volunteers that sold tickets and to all the fans who bought tickets at different events in the last four months. Without you, this major fundraising effort for the Preds Foundation would not have been possible. We’re excited about our success with the raffle thus far and look forward to seeing the program grow in the future.”

Rocketown’s Golden Giveaway is the next charity cash raffle opportunity for fans attending events at Bridgestone Arena. Running through March 8, the purchaser of the winning ticket will win 50 percent of the net proceeds with the remainder benefitting Rocketown, a local charity that strives to be a place of peace, purpose and possibilities for Nashville youth.
