20-Game Mark by the Numbers

Twenty games into the 2014-15 season, the Nashville Predators have logged essentially a quarter of their season in the books. And what a campaign it’s been.

Off to the second best franchise start in team history, the Preds accomplishments are even more impressive when looking at the numbers. Take for example, the number of points notched 20 games into Nashville’s previous five seasons:

2014-15: 13-5-2, 28 points

2013-14: 9-9-2, 20 points

2012-13: 9-6-5, 23 points

2011-12: 10-6-4, 24 points*

2010-11: 9-7-4, 22 points*

*qualified for playoffs

1 - Filip Forsberg’s ranking in points by an NHL rookie and points among Preds players (22), League rookie forwards in time on ice (17:06) and NHL plus/minus (+20).

2.05 - Team goals-against average, ranked second in the NHL.

3 - Preds are 10-0-1 when they hold the opponent to under three goals.

4 - Points scored by forward Calle Jarnkrok in his last four games.

5 - Number of Nashville players with five or more goals: Mike Ribeiro (5), Craig Smith (6), Shea Weber (6), James Neal (9) and Filip Forsberg (9).

6 - The total of games in which Mike Ribeiro has been held pointless, tallying points in 14 other contests thus far.

7 - Preds win total after giving up the first goal (tied for second in the League).

7.1 The average penalty minutes per game recorded by the Preds, the lowest total in the NHL.

8 - Number of Preds players playing in their first full season with Nashville.

9 - Goal total notched by Nashville against the Maple Leafs, tying a franchise high.

15 - 15.8 to be exact, Taylor Beck’s shooting percentage.

16 - Number of goals allowed in the third period by the Preds.

17 - Point totals for Mike Ribeiro (5g-12a), second most on Nashville’s roster.

18 - Nashville is outscoring opponents 18-10 in the second period this season.

19 - Paul Gaustad leads the team with 19 penalty minutes, including three fighting majors.

20 - Number of games played by the Preds this season. At one quarter of the way through the season, Nashville stands among the NHL’s best.
