Tyson Barrie Bio

Barrie has developed a reputation as a defenseman with a nose for the net. The leading scorer among defenseman in each of his four full junior seasons with Kelowna of the Western Hockey League, Barrie was selected by the Colorado Avalanche in the third round (No. 64) of the 2009 NHL Draft.

The son of former NHL player and Tampa Bay Lightning co-owner Len Barrie, Tyson Barrie led the Avalanche as a rookie with an average ice time of 21:35 per game. After scoring his first NHL point with an assist in a 4-3 shootout win over the Minnesota Wild on Feb. 14, 2013, he had his first multipoint game in his next game, two days later. On Feb. 18, 2013, Barrie scored his first NHL goal in a 6-5 win against the Nashville Predators.
