Before coming to North America, Mamin spent the previous three seasons playing in the Kontinental Hockey League. He was named the KHL's top rookie in 2014-15 after finishing with 10 points (five goals, five assists) in 39 games with CSKA Moscow.
Mamin played for Russia in the 2018 IIHF World Championship, scoring three goals in six games.
