Voracek, a forward from Kladno, Czech Republic, sure knows how to make a good first impression.
On Oct. 10, 2008, he scored his first NHL goal in the first period of his first League game while playing for the Columbus Blue Jackets. Four seasons later, after being traded to the Philadelphia Flyers, Voracek scored in the first period of his first game with his new team on Oct. 6, 2011.

Voracek also impressed in his first NHL All-Star Game, scoring six points in 2015 to tie Mario Lemieux's 1988 record for points in an All-Star Game. Voracek also has had a knack for being involved in notable goals; he had the only assist on the first playoff goal in Blue Jackets history April 16, 2009 against the Detroit Red Wings and scored the second-fastest overtime goal (10 seconds) in Flyers history in a 4-3 win against the Winnipeg Jets on Dec. 21, 2014 (Simon Gagne, seven seconds, Jan. 5, 2006).
Moments like those are perhaps expected from a player taken with the No. 7 pick, which the Blue Jackets did in the 2007 NHL Draft. One might also expect such a player to have a rather crowded trophy case, and that is the case with Voracek, who has won the Bobby Clarke Trophy as Philadelphia's MVP in 2013 and 2015, and the Pelle Lindbergh Memorial Trophy as its most improved player in 2013.
Voracek led the Flyers in goals (22) and was second in points (46) during the shortened 2012-13 season. In 2014-15, he was second in the NHL in assists (59) and tied for fourth in points (81).
He dropped to 55 points (11 goals, 44 assists) in 73 games in 2015-16, then improved to 61 points (20 goals, 41 assists) in 82 games in 2016-17 before setting NHL career highs with 65 assists and 85 points in 82 games in 2017-18.
Voracek scored 604 points (177 goals, 427 assists) in 727 games in 10 seasons with the Flyers, who traded him back to the Blue Jackets for forward Cam Atkinson on July 24, 2021.
