He capped his amateur career by getting 91 points (34 goals, 57 assists) in 57 games for Charlottetown of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, then had 19 points (five goals, 14 assists) in 13 playoff games. In three seasons with Charlottetown, he had 220 points (79 goals, 141 assists) in 173 games. In 2015, he was named to the Canadian Hockey League Top Prospects Game and to the QMJHL All-Rookie Team.
Chlapík helped the Czech Republic win the silver medal at the 2014 IIHF Under-18 World Championship.
