The Fullerton, California, native played eight games for the Florida Panthers in 2017-18 after making his NHL debut on Oct. 28 in a 3-2 shootout loss to the Detroit Red Wings. He spent most of the season with Springfield of the American Hockey League and had 35 points (14 goals, 21 assists).
Balisy was selected by the Nashville Predators in the sixth round (No. 1700 of the 2011 NHL Draft. He played three seasons in the USA Hockey National Team Development Program before playing at Western Michigan, where he had 129 points (49 goals, 80 assists) in 161 games. He helped Western Michigan to the 2012 Central Collegiate Hockey Association Tournament Championship, scoring the game-winning goal in a 3-2 victory against Michigan. Balisy was named Second Team All-National Collegiate Hockey Conference for the 2013-14 season.
