Froese had 11 points (three goals, eight assists) in 48 games for the Canadiens in 2017-18 after getting recalled from Laval of the American Hockey League. He had 11 points (three goals, eight assists) in 13 games to start the season for Laval of the American Hockey League, earning a call up to the Canadiens on Nov. 8.
Froese was signed by Montreal on July 1, 2017 after he split the 2016-17 season with Toronto Maple Leafs and Tampa Bay Lightning. He had 39 points (24 goals, 15 assists) in 48 games for Toronto in the AHL and played in two games for the Maple Leafs (zero points). He was acquired by the Lightning in a trade with the Maple Leafs on Feb. 27, 2017 and played in four games with Tampa Bay and six games with Syracuse in the AHL, where he had seven points (three goals, four assists).
