by Staff Writer / Pittsburgh Penguins

DALLAS – The Western Conference Stars held off the East for a 12-9 win in the NHL All-Star Game in Dallas on Wednesday.

Pittsburgh Penguins 19-year-old rookie center started the game for the Eastern Conference. He did not record a point on the evening.

However, Crosby was given the Mark Messier Leadership Award for December.

Crosby was the only Penguins player to play in the NHL All-Star Game. Evgeni Malkin, Jordan Staal and Ryan Whitney participated in Tuesday’s YoungStars game. All three had at least one point.

Also Tuesday, Crosby helped lead the Eastern Conference All-Stars to a win over the West in the All-Star skills competition.
