Michael Hutchinson turned aside all 34 shots he faced as the St. John's IceCaps advanced to the Calder Cup Final with a 5-0 win over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Final on Tuesday night at the Mile One Centre.
Hutchinson allowed just nine goals in the six-game series, and posted a pair of shutouts to lead the IceCaps to their first championship appearance in the team's third year in the AHL.
Eric O'Dell netted his league-high ninth goal of the postseason to open the scoring during a first period power play.
Adam Lowry picked up the lone goal of the second period, before Blair Riley, Zach Redmond and Jason Jaffray (ENG) put the game away in the third.
The IceCaps will face the Texas Stars in the Calder Cup Final starting on Sunday in Austin.
