WBS Pens Clinch Ninth Consecutive Playoff Berth

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – As a result of the 5-3 victory over the Worcester Sharks on Saturday night, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins became the first team to clinch a berth in the 2011 Calder Cup Playoffs.

The Penguins hold a record of 49-18-0-1 (99 points), good for the top spot in the East Division and the American Hockey League.  The Penguins head to the postseason for the ninth consecutive year, and for the 10th time in the team’s 12-year history.
With 12 games remaining, the Penguins’ opponent in the East Division Semifinals as well as the first home playoff dates will be determined at a later time.
Ticket packages for the 2011 Calder Cup Playoffs are currently available through the Penguins’ ticket offices by calling (570) 208-PENS.  Individual tickets for the first home playoff games will go on sale beginning Friday, April 1 at 10:00am.
The Penguins will continue its three-game homestand in hosting the Charlotte Checkers tomorrow, March 20 for a 3:05 pm faceoff.  The first 5,000 fans through the gates will receive a player game-worn jersey card courtesy of Dodge.
