Bill Guerin nets a point against his former team. Crosby set up the play by picking the puck off of Bruno Gervais in the far corner and then dished it to Guerin in the slot. Guerin shoveled the puck into the upper right shelf for the point. Penguins 4, Islanders 1.9:36 PM:
The Pens give the Islanders a five-on-three chance. They kill off the penalties. Garon has had a little bit of help from the posts, but any good goalie will tell you that hitting the post just means they were in the right position to not let the shot get past.9:30 PM:

The Rangers lead the Flyers 2-1 in the third and the Sabres bested the Hurricanes 5-1. Also, Washington leads Tampa Bay, 3-1, but Ovechkin has not yet factored a point in that game.9:11 PM:

The Penguins net another one to up their lead to 3-1. Staal skated up the near side and then turned and passed the puck to Cooke in the high slot. Cooke shot the puck past McDonald's right shoulder. Penguins 3, Islanders 1.8:39 PM:
The Penguins take the lead with possibly one of the strangest goals of the season. Dupuis skated the puck into the zone and took a shot which appeared to bounce off of Letang or possibly the Islanders defender. Either way, the puck then popped into the air and over the shoulder of McDonald like a pop-fly. Dupuis was credited for the goal, but that may change later. Penguins 2, Islanders 1.8:33 PM:

Welcome back Philippe Boucher! Boucher (who is playing his fist game since Jan. 30) nets a goal to tie the score at 1-1. Malkin and Fedotenko worked hard in the zone to get a few shots on net that were blocked by McDonald but Boucher was able to pinch in and pound the puck into the net for the point. Touche Boucher. The Islanders score a power-play goal. Josh Bailey took a slap shot from the near circle which bounced off of a Penguin player and through the slot. The puck ended up on the stick of Frans Nielsen who burried it far side for the point. Islanders 1, Penguins 0.7:45 PM:
The puck drops to begin the Pens last regular season home game in a contest agains the New York Islanders.
Mathieu Garon is in net for the Penguins. Defenseman Hal Gill and forward Max Talbot are the Penguins only scratches tonight.
Joey MacDonald is in net for New York. Scratches for the Islanders are forwards Trent Hunter, Andy Hilbert, Kyle Okposo, Dean Mcammond, Kurtis McLean and Blake Comeau.
Prior to the start of the game, the crowd held a moment of silence in honor of the three Pittsburgh policemen who were killed in the line of duty last Saturday.
