The Pittsburgh Penguins honored Tom Mimidis of Charleroi as their 25,000,000th fan during Wednesday night’s game with St. Louis at CONSOL Energy Center.
Mimidis won a trip to a Penguins road game as well as an autographed Sidney Crosby
Coming into Wednesday’s game, the Penguins had drawn 24,983,853 fans since their inception in 1967 – counting regular season and playoff games.
Using bar code technology, the Penguins were able to determine that Mimidis was the 16,147th fan through the gates Wednesday, making him the 25,000,000th fan in team history.
All fans in attendance Wednesday received coupons for a free cup of Dunkin’ Donuts coffee; free skate rental at Penguins Pond at SouthSide Works; and 25 percent off one purchase at the PensGear store at SouthSide Works.
The crowd of 18,583 was the Penguins’ 220th straight sellout. The team’s overall attendance since 1967 is now 25,002,436.
For the record, the Penguins have drawn 22,751,945 fans to regular season games and 2,250,491 fans to playoff games.
