The Pittsburgh Penguins return home Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. to take on the Florida Panthers.
The Penguins (23-17-8) have won five of their last six games, including their past three. In addition, the team has picked up points in six-straight games – a season high. They will look to snap a losing skid against the Panthers, who have won 14 of the past 15 meetings with Pittsburgh.
Sidney Crosby looks to remain hot for the Penguins. He has picked up points in his last six games (4+9) to boost his league-leading totals to 78 points (25+53) in only 45 games. Washington’s Alexander Ovechkin is next – 10 points behind – with 68 points (31+37) in 50 games.
Including Crosby, several Penguins continue to produce during the team’s winning streak. Ryan Whitney leads the way as he has registered 10 points (1+9) in his last seven games. He has assists in his last seven games as well.
Mark Recchi is on fire, too. The veteran has tallied 13 points (7+6) in his last six games. He has scored a goal in his last three games. Ryan Malone has a five-game point streak (3+3) also for the Penguins.
Evgeni Malkin continues to lead the rookie scoring race. He has 52 points (24+28) in 44 games. Los Angeles center Anze Kopitar is second with 44 points (13+31) in 52 games.
The Penguins continue their three-game homestand Thursday against Montreal and Saturday against Washington.
