The Pittsburgh Penguins return to action Thursday at 7:30 p.m. as they welcome New Jersey to Mellon Arena.

FSN Pittsburgh will televise the contest at 7:30 p.m., while 105.9 The X will start its radio broadcast with a pregame show at 7 p.m. The broadcast may be found live through streaming audio on as well. It marks the seventh game in 12 days for the Penguins (36-21-9), who are just seven points behind the Devils (40-19-8) in the Atlantic Division standings.

Sidney Crosby owns a nine-point lead in the NHL scoring race with 98 points (27+71) in 63 games. Tampa Bay’s Martin St. Louis and Vincent Lecavalier are tied for second with 89 points. Lecavalier (43+46) and St. Louis (39+50) both have played in 68 games.

Evgeni Malkin leads all rookies in scoring with 69 points (29+40) in 62 games. Colorado’s Paul Stastny is second with 63 points (22+41) in 67 games. Penguins winger Jordan Staal is sixth in rookie scoring with 36 points (27+9). He leads all NHL players with a 26.7 shooting percentage and seven short-handed goals, an NHL record for rookies.

Sergei Gonchar is tied for third in scoring among NHL defensemen with 54 points (11+43). He is four points behind Detroit’s Nicklas Lidstrom, who leads the list with 58 points (11+47).
