Penguins to Hold Auditions for Guys for Skating "Ice Crew"

by Staff Writer / Pittsburgh Penguins
The Pittsburgh Penguins will introduce a skating ‘Ice Crew” for the 2010-11 season – a team of energetic girls and guys who will help clean the ice, interact with fans and take part in other promotional activities.

Putting the crew on skates will add a new level of excitement to the Penguins’ game presentation as the team enters a new era at CONSOL Energy Center.

More than 120 girls have registered for auditions that will be held in late July.

Now, the Penguins announce auditions for guys, which will be held Wednesday, Aug. 11 from 6-8 pm at Iceoplex at Southpointe. Auditions will include interviews and skating.

Overseeing all auditions will be Laura Spencer, the Penguins’ Ice Crew coordinator.

“I am very excited for the opportunity to integrate Penguins fans into our overall game presentation this season with the addition of the Ice Crew,” Spencer said. “The Pittsburgh Penguins’ brand is about drive, energy and innovation. At our auditions we will be looking for individuals who represent those qualities.”

Applicants 18 or older with skating experience or the desire to learn are encouraged to complete an online application at
