With the extra roster spot the Penguins recalled forward Janne Pesonen, who has nine points (2G-7A) in nine games with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

Therrien officially named Scuderi and Gill as the Penguins alternate captains for the month of November. Therrien notified the defensemen at the team's morning skate. He said in the beginning of the season that he will rotate the alternate captaincy each month. Malkin and Orpik were alternate captains for the month of October. Archive
