The Pittsburgh Penguins marked the end of summer with the 22nd Annual Summer Sticks Classic Golf Tournament, which took place at Longue Vue Club in Verona, PA Friday afternoon.
“Our testing day is (Saturday); That’s when everything officially starts,” defenseman Alex Goligoski said. “So it’s good to get out here and play some golf.”
The scramble-style tournament featured teams of three, each accompanied by a Penguins player or coach. The teams competed for tournament prizes.
“I’ll tell you (how my golf game is) after today,” head coach Dan Bylsma laughed.
Other players were in attendance simply to take in the event.
“Pretty awful” were the words that Kris Letang
used to describe his golf skills.
“I’m not golfing,” Letang said. “I’m just going to enjoy it and chat with the guys.”
The tournament kicked off at noon, and benefits the team’s scholarship and Pen Pals programs.Author: Tom Mast
