The Pittsburgh Penguins begin a two-game road trip to close out play before the Olympic break.

The Penguins head to Carolina at 7 p.m. Friday in hopes of snapping a seven-game losing skid.

FSN Pittsburgh will televise the contest at 7 p.m., while 3WS (94.5 FM) will start its radio broadcast with a pregame show at 6:30 p.m. The broadcast may be found live through streaming audio on as well. The Carolina Hurricanes (38-12-4) continue to lead the NHL with 80 points. They are 8-2 in their last 10 games and rank sixth in power-play conversion (19.6 percent) and 17th in penalty killing (81.7).

The Penguins (12-34-11) rank 15th in power-play conversion (17.9), but continue to struggle killing penalties. They rank last in the league in penalty killing at 77.4 percent.

Pittsburgh may be without two top scorers on Friday in defenseman Sergei Gonchar and winger Michel Ouellet. The two missed the Penguins’ game Wednesday at Mellon Arena after sustaining injuries Monday night in Ottawa. Gonchar, who took a vicious hit, practiced the past two days. Ouellet, who was checked awkwardly into the boards, did not practice the past two days and is listed as day-to-day. Gonchar is Pittsburgh’s third-leading scorer with six goals, 25 assists and 31 points in 53 games, while Ouellet has 13 goals, 11 assists and 24 points in his first 28 NHL games.

The Penguins return to action Saturday in Washington to close out action before the Olympic break.
