New Penguins Medallion Collection Celebrates Last Season's Champs While Keeping an Eye on the Present and Future

by Staff Writer / Pittsburgh Penguins
The Pittsburgh Penguins, in conjunction with Trib Total Media, are proud to introduce the Penguins Stanley Cup Champions Medallion Collection. This exciting collectible is the first of its kind for the defending champion Penguins and it gives fans a chance to re-live last season’s run through the Stanley Cup playoffs while collecting medallions of some of their favorite Pens players.

The collection consists of 18 medallions featuring all the current players who were part of last season’s championship. These medallions are all housed in a full-color, glossy album featuring player photographs, bios and an introductory article.

Beginning Sunday, Dec. 6, fans can start their collection by taking the coupon in their local Trib Total Media newspaper to participating Giant Eagle and GetGo locations to get the album FREE with purchase of the first medallion in the collection – Sidney Crosby. A new player medallion will be released each day through Dec. 23. Medallions are just $2.99 plus tax and can only be purchased with the accompanying coupon from that day’s Trib Total Media newspaper.

Last season’s memorable run marked the franchise’s third Stanley Cup championship, the first since Mario Lemieux led the club to consecutive titles in 1991 and 1992. This Penguins club, led by the young core of Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Marc-Andre Fleury, made its mark for a new generation of fans and is poised to compete for more championships in the future.

Coupons will appear in Trib Total Media’s seven daily newspapers – Tribune-Review (Greensburg), Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Valley News Dispatch (Tarentum), Leader Times (Kittanning), Daily Courier (Connellsville), The Valley Independent (Monessen), and The Daily News (McKeesport).
