Marc-Andre Fleury earned NHL ‘Third Star’ of the week honors after posting a 3-0 record where he allowed only three goals in three games.
During his undefeated week, Fleury stopped 102 of the 105 shots he faced for a 0.99 goals-against average and a .971 save percentage.
Fleury was flawless last Thursday versus the Colorado Avalanche, where he turned away all 29 shots he faced in regulation and 2:24 of overtime in a 1-0 overtime win to record his sixth shutout of the season. Just two days later, Fleury stopped a season-high 45 shots, which fell just 2 saves high of tying a career high, to help Pittsburgh defeat the Florida Panthers and finish off its perfect 3-0 week.
Fleury’s six shutouts lead the NHL, and established a new personal career high for the Pittsburgh netminder. Over the last two seasons, no goaltender has more shutouts than Fleury (11).
In addition to leading the NHL with six shutouts, Fleury ranks second with 19 wins, fourth with a .933 save percentage and fifth with a 1.97 goals-against average. He is 6-0-1 in his last seven starts.
