Local Police Officers to Collect For Officer Kuzak Before Pens' First Playoff Game Wednesday
/ Pittsburgh Penguins
Members of the Clairton Police Department and other local police officers will hold a collection to benefit wounded officer James Kuzak before the Penguins’ first playoff game Wednesday night at CONSOL Energy Center.
Officer Kuzak, a 15-year police veteran, was shot three times April 4 while answering an emergency call about a home invasion in Clairton. He is hospitalized in critical condition and still faces multiple surgeries.
“Officer Kuzak put himself in harm’s way to protect a family and their two small children,” said Dave Soltesz, president of the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation. “His fellow officers and friends are trying to do what they can to help Jim and his family during this difficult time, and the Penguins are proud to cooperate with this collection.”
Officers will be located inside CONSOL Energy Center gates before the Penguins’ 7 p.m. game with the Tampa Bay Lightning Wednesday.
Donations also may be sent to the James Kuzak Benefit Fund, P.O. Box 225, Clairton, PA 15025, or made in person at any PNC Bank office.
