It’s a three-peat for Team Canada.
Canada captured its third-straight World Junior Championship gold medal Friday in Sweden with a 4-2 win over Russia.
Kris Letang, Canada’s captain and a Penguins 2005 third-round pick, had an assist in the championship game. He set up Bryan Little’s goal in the first period to give Canada a 2-0 lead.
Letang, named one of Canada’s top three players, finished the tournament tied for second in defensemen scoring with six points (0+6) in six games. He had 12 penalty minutes and finished with a plus-4 rating.
Erik Johnson led all defensemen in scoring with 10 points (4+6) and helped lead Team USA to the bronze medal.
