Final Regular-Season Game at Mellon Arena Marks Second Highest-Rated Regular-Season Game on FSN Pittsburgh

Last night’s Pittsburgh Penguins win over the New York Islanders garnered the second highest NHL regular season rating on FSN Pittsburgh, according to Nielsen Media Research. The game, which averaged an 13.14 HH rating, celebrated the final regular season game at Mellon Arena and was viewed by more than 151,100 households in the Pittsburgh DMA.
“Game #1,667 marked a milestone for FSN Penguins telecasts. It was a record final season at Mellon Arena that resulted in our highest regular season ratings of all time. Our ability to showcase more than 50 former Pittsburgh Penguins, who played a huge part in Penguins history, was truly a memorable opportunity for the nearly 378,000 viewers who tuned to FSN Pittsburgh for the final regular season game ever at Mellon Arena,” said Ted Black, Senior Vice President/General Manager, FSN Pittsburgh. “On behalf of everyone who works so hard to bring these games to the fans, I want to thank our viewers and wish the Penguins luck on the road to repeat.”
Fifteen of the Top 20 Highest Rated Regular Season NHL Games on the regional sports network have occurred in the current 2009-10 season. The highest rating of a regular season Penguins game in FSN Pittsburgh history still remains the 15.9 mark for the first game during which Mario Lemieux returned to the team in December 2000.
For the third straight year FSN Pittsburgh has lead all FOX regional sports networks in NHL game ratings.
