The NHL’s leading assist man and No. 2 point scorer, Malkin led the league last week in both assists (6) and points (9) as the Penguins posted an unbeaten 3-0-1 record.
Malkin turned in perhaps his best individual performance of the season against the Florida Panthers on Saturday, scoring a goal and adding three assists for a season-high four points in Pittsburgh’s 5-1 victory.
Last Wednesday, Malkin recorded his first two-goal game since March 22, 2012 when he beat Jonathan Bernier twice in regulation, had one assist and tallied in the shootout to help key Pittsburgh’s 6-5 comeback win from an early 4-1 deficit.
Malkin’s run during the month of November has vaulted him into second place in the NHL scoring race, one point behind teammate Sidney Crosby. Malkin has 35 points (7G-28A) in 28 games.
Malkin’s banner month included league-best totals of 21 assists and 25 points in 15 games. He had at least one point in 14 of the 15 games, and eight multiple-point efforts.
Malkin looks to build upon his active eight-game assist/point streak on Tuesday night when the Penguins visit the New York Islanders at 7 p.m. at Nassau Coliseum to conclude a three-game road swing.
