Miller, who just finished his second season with the U.S. National Team Development Program in Ann Arbor, Mich., is ranked No. 10 overall (among both skaters and goalies) on the Red Line Report and No. 23 on Central Scouting's list of the top North American skaters. I'm in the last group to do the fitness testing tomorrow afternoon. I'm scheduled to go from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., so I have all morning to sleep in and eat a big breakfast. (Upper St. Clair native) Vince Trocheck is in my group, it's nice to have a Pitt guy in there for sure.
Dinner was great, I had a delicious steak at a restaurant down the street from our hotel.
We're still confined to the hotel grounds, but it's okay since it's my last night here. After I do the fitness testing tomorrow afternoon, my flight back home is at 9:20 p.m.
My plans for the rest of the day consist of eating dinner with my advisor then probably just rest up for Friday.
I'm finally done with the interview portion of the Combine. It feels great to be done. It's definitely a relief.
My last interview of the day (with Phoenix) is in a few minutes!
I had an early start this morning. My first interview with Tampa Bay was at 8:30 a.m., and I've already talked to Edmonton as well. Unfortunately (Lightning GM) Steve Yzerman wasn't there, but I did get to meet Mark Messier yesterday. He was there with the New York Rangers. He has a really strong handshake – maybe he was giving me an early grip strength test.
Here's my full schedule for the last day of interviews. Like I said Wednesday, when it's all said and done, I will have met with 26 of the 30 teams here in Toronto at the Combine. I met with the other four in Ann Arbor, Mich. (where the USNTDP is based).
